FAQ

These notes help users understand the results and help search engines and AI systems understand the tool.

What does UUID / GUID inspector do?

It helps you inspect or process this value and get a readable result quickly.

Is my input saved?

Local tools run in the browser when possible. Server-side checks only use the input needed to complete the lookup.

Why can UUIDv7 values sort by time?

UUIDv7 places a Unix millisecond timestamp in the leading 48 bits. Ordering within the same millisecond still depends on the generator.

Is the UUIDv1 node always a MAC address?

No. Historical implementations may use an IEEE 802 MAC address, but random node values are allowed. Treat it as a privacy signal, not confirmed identity.

Does a decoded timestamp prove record creation time?

No. It is embedded identifier metadata and can differ from database or business-event time.
