Does a bad NMEA checksum mean the receiver is broken?

No. Missing fields, copying the wrong checksum range, line breaks, or stray characters can all break a checksum. Validate the text range first.

Can Source-Table parsing prove that a mountpoint is online?

No. It reviews text structure only. Real online state, permission, datum, and correction quality must be checked with receiver or caster-side data.
